Paal payasam is yet another one of the specialities of kerala. Made with milk, sugar and rice, this is of the simpler and easy to make payasams.

  • ½ litre milk
  • 2.5 tablespoons broken rice
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ghee
  1. Boil milk in a vessel.
  2. Wash the rice and drain it.
  3. Add the rice, sugar, ghee to the milk and mix well.
  4. Place the vessel in a pressure cooker and pressure cook the milk mixture for about 35 minutes on low flame.
  5. Turn off the heat. Once the steam is fully released take out the vessel. Stir the payasam once.
  6. Serve hot or cold!
