CAULIFLOWER MANCHURIAN

Very often in life we find that certain places, movies, songs and even food items remind us of our childhood. Cauliflower Manchurian takes me back to my school days when my sister and I used to huddle up in the kitchen for hours to make it. The kitchen used to be an undeclared war zone leaving a huge mess for my mom to clear up later. 
I will be sharing the recipe of Cauliflower Manchurian today.  
Sis, this post is for you..remembering all the good times we have shared during our childhood 🙂

A good appetizer for lovers of indo-chinese cuisine

Serves: 3-4
Ingredients
To make the manchurian
  • Cauliflower, 1 medium sized
  • Baking powder, 2 tsp
  • Chilli powder, 2 tsp
  • Ajinomotto, 2 tsp
  • Cornflour/Corn starch, 3 tbspn
  • All Purpose Flour, 3 tbspn
  • Milk as required
  • Salt to taste
To make the sauce
  • Green chillies, 1 no.
  • Garlic, 5 cloves
  • Vinegar, 3 tsps
  • Soya sauce, 3 tsps
  • Tomato sauce, 5 tsps
  • Sugar, 1.5 tsps
  • Water, 6 tbspns
Instructions
  1. Cut cauliflower into medium sized florets and cook it in salt water.
  2. Make a thick batter baking powder, chilli powder, ajinomotto, corn starch, flour and milk.
  3. Heat oil in a pan for deep frying.
  4. Dip the cauliflower in the batter, roll it in bread crumbs and deep fry it in oil till golden brown.
  5. Keep the fried cauliflowers aside.
  6. Mix vinegar, soya sauce, tomato sauce, sugar and water in a container.
  7. Grind the green chillies and garlic and keep aside.
  8. Add a tsp of oil in a pan and fry the ground chilli garlic.
  9. Add the sauce mixture to this and allow it to boil.
  10. To this add the fried cauliflower and stir till it soaks up all the sauce.
  11. Serve hot!

    Post more fast to cook recipes no? I'm in dire need of them! Our cooking is too time consuming and complicated… I'm trying to find simple, easy to cook stuff. Any ideas?

    You can try Pesarattu (Mixed lentil-rice dosa) and idlis made with semolina & vermicelli. Both are easy to make. I will post the recipes shortly.

    here goes ash…i tried out this recipe when i invited my sis and her family for lunch. it was a superhit! my nephew just loved it.
