This morning i was deliberating over what dry vegetable to make for lunch. Potatoes were the first and the most obvious choice. I am sure there are very few who don’t love the vegetable. Dry dishes made using Potato-Peas and Potato-Cauliflower combinations are to die for. I finally zeroed in on Aloo mutter and i shall share my version of the recipe today.

Serves: 2
Ingredients
- Onions,1 small
- Potatoes, 2 medium sized
- Peas, ⅓ cup
- Chopped Garlic, ¾ tsp
- Cumin seeds, 1 tsp
- Chopped coriander
- Salt to Taste
- Dry Powders:
- Coriander powder, ¾ tsp
- Chilli powder, ½ tsp
- Turmeric powder, ¼ tsp
- Garam masala, ½ tsp
Instructions
- Pour about 2 tbpsns of oil in a pressure cooker.
- Once heated add cumin seeds and after it has popped add chopped garlic and onions.
- When the onions are slightly brown add the dry powders (coriander powder, chilli powder, turmeric powder and garam masala).
- Stir for a bit and then add the potatoes and peas.
- To this add about ¼ cup water and salt to taste.
- Pressure cook it for about 10 minutes (I turned off the cooker after 2 whistles).
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot!
- Variation: Green chillies can be used in lieu of chilli powder. In case you are using green chillies, grind one large chilli along with 2-3 pods of garlic and fry it along with the onions.
